Riviera elegance, gateway to Portofino
Santa Margherita Ligure is an elegant Riviera town, with a palm-lined seafront, a colourful harbour and gracious villas. Itâs more relaxed and less pricey than Portofino, and itâs the natural gateway to it: from here you reach Portofino by bus (line 782) or ferry.
But itâs worth a trip in its own right: a swim, a stroll along the harbour, a quiet lunch. Itâs about 40 minutes by train from Genova.
